Collusion Confusion: Does Senator McCaskill Secretly Support the DNC’s “Silly Distraction?”

Hawley questions if McCaskill will tell DNC to drop lawsuit, or call for Perez’s resignation

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Asked about the Democratic National Committee’s new lawsuit to fight the 2016 election results, Senator Claire McCaskill called it a “silly distraction.” But what does that really mean?

David Corn and Michael Isikoff report that on election night 2016, McCaskill told a reporter, “Can you believe this? The f****** Russians,” in reference to Donald Trump’s victory. The DNC apparently agrees with McCaskill, and filed suit last week alleging collusion between the Russians and President Trump’s campaign.

Is that why McCaskill refuses to tell the DNC to drop the suit? Or will she now call on the DNC to put an end to its attempts to effectively overturn the 2016 election?

“Senator McCaskill’s declaration on election night leaves all Missourians wondering if she actually stands with her party in blaming the Russians for President Trump’s victory,” said Josh Hawley. “It’s time for answers. Will Claire McCaskill call on the DNC to drop this outrageous lawsuit? And will she call on Tom Perez to resign for attempting to invalidate the votes of millions of Missourians?”
