Will Senator McCaskill get serious about our national security and support Pompeo for Secretary of State?
COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Josh Hawley for Senate campaign launched a new web ad today, putting pressure on Senator Claire McCaskill to make a decision about her support for President Trump’s Secretary of State nominee, Mike Pompeo.
“Will Senator McCaskill ignore her liberal donors and support Mike Pompeo for Secretary of State, or will she stick with Chuck Schumer and continue to obstruct the President?” said Kelli Ford, spokesperson for the Hawley for Senate campaign. “It is deeply troubling how focused Senator McCaskill is on doing what’s politically convenient, instead of doing what’s right. She needs to get serious and stop using our national security as a bargaining chip. Missourians deserve to know if she will support Pompeo.”
As recently reported by McClatchy DC, “McCaskill, one of the country’s most vulnerable Democrats in November, has yet to say whether she’ll support Pompeo’s nomination. She voted to confirm him as CIA director.” Her fellow vulnerable Democrat Senators – Joe Donnelly, Joe Manchin and Heidi Heitkamp – have recently announced their support for Pompeo.
